The title of this post sheds a spec of doubt on Rosland Capital’s reputation. For the sake of objectivity, I must state that Rosland Capital is a perfectly legit precious metals dealer based in the USA. One of the company’s main goals is to educate its clients about the advantages of investing in precious metals.

On Rosland’s website, the visitor can see a counter showing how America’s national debt is soaring. The message is clear: Invest in precious metals now, or else your savings will melt!

Rosland Capital A Scam?

Rosland Capital has a transparent business structure. Its website is easy to navigate, and all of its products and services are neatly listed in separate sections. Other gold and silver dealers are quite secretive when bringing their founders and owners into the limelight.

They hide their names behind general phrases such as “the company was founded by a think-tank of precious metals experts in that year. Each of Rosland Capital’s investment products (listed below) is accompanied by a customer agreement with the company’s storage fees and commission fees.

I tried hard to dig out some information associating Rosland Capital with scams, and the only result that pops out is “Rosland Capital free silver scam.” Well, there’s only one such link, but it opens a fairly objective review of the company.

Santa Monica vs. Goldline

This is probably the most famous precious metals scam lawsuit from the recent past. Basically, attorney Adam Radinsky and his team went after a certain [recious metals dealer, Goldline, for pushing their clients to buy coins that they claimed could not be confiscated.

The city of Santa Monica was awarded a total of $4.5 million in compensation, and Goldline had to rework its sales policy completely.

About Rosland Capital

Its founder, Marin Aleksov, was born in Sweden in 1993. He founded Rosland Capital in 2008. Some fellow reviewers point to 2005 as the company’s founding year, but this information appears unverified.

A quick Google search reveals that the company is headquartered at 11766 Wilshire Blvd STE 1200, Los Angeles, CA 90025. Rosland’s contact information includes a phone number and email address: [email protected], and multiple social media channels.

Rosland Capital has also got sales representatives in Santa Monica and branch offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and even Hong Kong.

Rosland Company is an asset management company and a precious metals retailer with a wide portfolio of metals, including:

Philanthropic Activity

On the contrary, Rosland Capital’s founder and CEO, Marin Aleksov, is a precious metals expert with over 20 years of experience in the metals industry and a philanthropist and a public figure.

On his personal website, the visitors can read how gold and silver are mined, read interviews with him, or learn about Aleksov’s charity campaigns such as “Race Against Dementia.”

Track Record

Rosland has earned an “A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and a AAA rating from the Business Consumer Alliance. TrustLink gives Rosland Capital 4.5 out of five stars based on 70+ customer reviews.

The company’s activity is being tracked by specialized precious metals websites like BetterBullion and Reach150.

Precious Metals

Let’s look at some of the company’s most popular products in the following four categories: Gold, Silver, Palladium, IRA.

Rosland Capital Gold

Rosland Capital offers retail gold in coins featuring former sports celebrities like Sir Jackie Steward and Michael Schumacher (F1 racing drivers) or golfer Arnold Palmer.

The company also offers gold coins commemorating sports events like the F1 Championship, the Davis Cup (tennis), and the Players Championship (golf). The gold proof of the coins varies from a quarter of an ounce to one kilo.

The authenticity of each gold coin is verified by a statement of metal fineness, weight, and proof quality, as well as the signature of the accredited Swiss assayer at PAMP, all rights reserved.

Silver

Rosland Capital also offers an impressive variety of silver coins commemorating the sportsmen and sports evens mentioned above, plus historical artifacts such as the British Museum Gladiator’s Helmet 1.5 oz Silver Coin. This legal tender coin is minted of 999.0 fine silver, and the material’s purity is verified by PAMP.

Platinum

You can only buy platinum from Rosland Capital in the form of 1 oz bullion bars minted at PAMP, in the Swiss town of Castel San Pietro, with 999.5 fineness.

Palladium

Rosland Capital is one of the few online precious metals retailers that offer palladium bullion bars. This rare and lustrous silvery-white metal was discovered in 1803 by William Hyde Wollaston. Each 1 oz bullion is certified by Credit Swisse to have 999.5 fineness.

Palladium now offers a substantial hedge against inflation or potential stock market volatility.

IRA Eligible Products

Most of the gold and silver coins and bars that Rosland Capital offers are IRA eligible. Before rolling your retirement account or 401k account over to them, you should consider two things. First, the listed price of silver and gold is much lower than that of the company’s collectible coins and bullions.

When buying from Rosland Capital, you are paying the price of material, plus craftsmanship. Consequently, the purchase amount falls down. The problem is that sports memorabilia tend to go out of fashion periodically. So, when you try to sell your Rosland coins, you fail to get the asked market price.

Setting Up a Gold IRA with Rosland Capital

Rosland Capital partners with Equity Institutional for their gold IRA and 401k plans. So, one automatically becomes an Equity Institutional client as soon as they open an account and agrees to pay their storage and administration fees.

You can set up a gold or silver IRA account in three easy steps. First, an Equity Institutional representative will send you application forms to fill in and sign. Once your account is working, you can decide which metals to put your money in. Finally, you can fund Your Rosland IRA with a check, bank transfer, or a rollover from your existing IRA.

Fees

There is a $50 setup fee and an annual administration fee of $225, but I could not verify whether it covers secure storage. The minimum deposit required to open a Gold IRA account is $10,000.

Rosland Capital Complaints

In the second part of my rosland capital review, I will try to determine why Rosland Capital is mentioned in so many customer complaints on social media and review sites such as the Better Business Bureau, TrustLink, and the Business Consumer Alliance. People mostly complain of the following business practices.

Misleading TV Commercials

In the world of precious metals, Rosland Capital is known for its television commercials starring actor William Devane. Even though the company has been endorsed by celebrities like Bill O’Reilly and William Devane, viewers find its TV ads too aggressive. Others go as far as calling Rosland Capital a scam.

Call for Price

The first red flag on sees when visiting Rosland Capital’s website is that the prices of their bullion coins and other investment products are not clearly listed. Instead, there is a “call for price” trigger under each coin.

The company explains that they don’t list their retail prices because the stock market prices of precious metals are constantly fluctuating, affecting the retail prices of the investment coins.

Order Cancellation

A Rosland Capital review on the BBB site mentions that order cancellation is almost impossible. It appears as though Rosland’s customer care reps only care about collecting customers’ cash. If, however, one requests a full refund, they tend to turn a deaf ear, even if the customer has followed Rosland Capital’s Return & Refund Policy.

Delayed Deliveries

Another disgruntled customer writes on the BBB site that the Britania gold coins ordered from Rosland Capital failed to arrive within the ten-day delivery period. Rosland responded that the delay occurred because of issues with the supplies from PCGS that have already been resolved.

Shared Storage

While Rosland Capital is committed to safekeeping its clients’ precious metals, the company does not provide a separate vault for each client. Rather, all assets are stored in a shared warehouse. This can lead to orders being mixed up or lost.

Low Buyback Prices

Another review of the site of the Better Business Bureau reveals that a Rosland customer purchased a certain number of silver coins for them at $33 per coin.

When silver hit $24 per oz in November 2020, the customer tried to sell the coins back to Rosland Capital in the hope of making a small profit. They filled in all of the necessary forms but were offered to have their silver coins bought back at $24 per coin.

A customer named Clifford N. has shared on TrustLink’s website that when you sell back to Rosland Capital, they will pay you 28-30% less than the selling price of the coin. Even more alarming is the fact that no one else is interested in buying Rosland’s gold and silver coins, except at melt value.

A Ripoff

Some customer complaints on Trustlink’s are significantly harsher in tone. A customer called David H. points out that one must always read the fine print on Rosland Capital’s invoices. There, one can read that the company charges close to 26% spread. Thus, if one buys gold coins from them at $560 per coin, the best buyback price Rosland could offer is $529 per coin.

Improving Reputation

I must say that most of Rosland’s customers are happy with the services they receive from the company and praise Rosland Capital’s bullion coins for the high level of craftsmanship they feature.

Excellent BCA Rating

Rosland Capital currently has a triple-A rating on the prestigious Business Consumer Alliance (BCA). The company’s customer service department has successfully resolved eleven complaints over the past 36 months and has resolved disputes worth close to $340,000.

Rosland Capital has earned a rating of AAA on the website of the Business Consumer Alliance. A happy customer named Gary V. shares how the company’s customer service representative went above and beyond what most people would do to help him roll over a portion of his 401k plan to a gold IRA.

Few Positive Reviews

On the downside, the company’s five-star rating is only based on seven positive consumer reviews. The BCA website further reports that Rosland Capital addresses all complaints on time. Even with the abovementioned difficulties, two customers have managed to obtain a full refund. The user agreements of another five clients have been adjusted in their favor.

Final Verdict

Let’s wrap it up: is it safe to invest your hard-earned money with this precious metals retailer based in Los Angeles or not? Well, it depends.

Accept The Risks

There are certain risks that you need to accept when investing in precious metals. Most of the complaints against Rosland Capital are from clients who thought they would make a fast profit selling their bullions and coins back to the company after an increase in the stock market price of these metals.

They were shocked to find out that the buyback price was still lower than the price they bought the coins at. Well, this is done to guarantee the company’s profit.

Don’t Put All of Your Eggs in One Basket.

If you have stashed some cash in your IRA account, it will be unwise to make a complete rollover to Rosland Capital. Instead, start with the $10,000 gold IRA minimum and see how it will work for you.

You can find plenty of investment tips on Rosland’s website. True, some reviews downgrade their agents as rude and unprofessional, but most of the company’s clients are happy with the advice they have received.

Compare Prices

Rosland Capital is not the only precious metals retailer in Los Angeles. Make sure to compare gold and silver prices before choosing one of the numerous investment companies in the area.
